With a bit too many cards in the game being problematic at this point, I
figured that it'd be easier to simply modify some of the rules rather than
errata-ing/limiting/banning every single one of them. The rule changes are
relatively simple, and I believe I've given enough in-depth explanations
already for most of them, so I'll only be brief here.
Change 1: 10k LP
The Rule: Each player starts the duel with 10000 LP.
As the power-creep has affected the game's cards over time, the standards by
which a card's effectiveness was judged in the past has changed over time.
Changing the starting LP from 8000 to 10000: 1)F@cks over burn decks, always a
plus. 2)Is better aesthetically. 8k always seemed weird to me as a number.
3)Allows players a bit more freedom with paying LP costs, etc.
I've been considering the starting LP change since I first laid eyes on this in 5Ds, and have over-time only thought of it as more and more beneficiary.
Change 2: Hand Protection on 1st Turn
The Rule: During the first turn of the duel, neither player can activate
cards or effects that would result, after resolution, in a lower number of
cards in their opponent's hand than before activation.
What does this do? 1)It vastly lowers the importance of Rock/Paper/Scissors
for a lot of duels. 2)It allows the second player a fighting
chance, since the number of ways they can interact with the
opponent's removal is increased. 3)It increases the viability of Traps.
4)It indirectly lowers the necessity for handtraps. 5)It allows for plenty of
unbans, like "Wind-Up Hunter", etc. There is nothing wrong with hitting your
opponent's hand, provided they have had a chance to fight back.
This annoying bastard would be a lot fairer if it couldn't limit the
opponent's moves before the opponent has even had a move.
opponent's moves before the opponent has even had a move.
Change 3: Limited Deck Materials
Ok, this is a complicated one, but the key-word is "exclusively". In
translation, this means that cards like "Advanced Ritual Art" don't care for this, while the more convenient nonsense like "Red-Eyes Fusion" has to use at least 1 monster from the hand. So: 1)It promotes investment
leading to output, which in turn leads to a healthy game. 2)Allows the
brickier of the Deck Summons to still be used normally, at the risk of drawing
useless cards, which is fairer than just using whatever from wherever.
Unfortunately this little sh!t would still need an errata to be off the banlist,
but that's for another article.

(For the most part there is almost no correlation between my ecchi tastes in anime/games and irl kinks, but as fans of my RPG and my exes can tell you, a good over-the-knees session is the golden link.)
