Today we're gonna go over the entirety of the Forbidden List of Yugi, and see how many of the cards could come out with a single HOPT errata, or no changes at all. We'll probably be leaving the more complicated issues for another article.

I'll be honest, when I started, I expected a lot more Traps to make it. I believe you can see the patterns: The problems are brainless one for one searchers that do not require any effort into them or even worse mindless +1s. HOPT GY revivals with some kind of cost are generally ok, and floats are debatable. Lockdowns are all big no-nos.

I can somewhat understand your reasoning, but your conclusions are often astray.
ReplyDeleteSteam--It's a Tuner that makes another body and can Tribute a card from the field (i.e. Seal.) It's too strong to allow back.
Fishborg Blaster--Hell no. This thing revives itself repeatedly. It's pretty broken.
Glow-up Bulb and Jet Synchron--1 card Halqs are very, very strong. Probably too strong.
Master Peace--This card probably isn't okay either. It's just a really dumb card, and unlike Towers, it doesn't even take that much effort to bring out.
O-Lion--While I personally am a fan of Eldlich Synchron, many people are not. In addition, this card being a Tuner that makes another body is probably too strong.
Harp--Maybe? This probably breaks PK Orcust and Scrap Orcust.
Master Plan--This card's effects were generally not used multiple times a turn anyway, and the really strong one (the second) is already HOPT.
Victory Dragon--This card isn't overpowered, it's just broken and an absolute rulings nightmare. There is a reason all other Match Winners have Limitation Text saying you can't use them.
Goblin--Hell no. The ability to get an extra Normal Summon for little cost is broken.
Mermaid--No, hell no with Goblin. This card makes any two monsters with different names become a full Orcust combo, and that ability should not be allowed. This card becomes even more broken in conjunction with Goblin.
Tempest Magician--This card is only used in FTKs, and those aren't cool.
Lavalval Chain--Generic Foolish Burial from the Extra Deck is probably too strong, even HOPT.
M-X-Saber Invoker--From Zoodiac format (or earlier) onwards, this card was only used once a turn anyway.
Broadbull--This would be an immense boost to the consistency and power of Zoodiac Tri-Brigade, and is probably too powerful to come back. I would note that Drident already got banned recently.
Chicken Game--It's basically Upstart Goblin, with a side of degenerate game states. Upstart is at 1 for a reason. This card very much should stay banned.
Mass Driver--This is basically a better Cannon Soldier, and Cannon Soldier is only off the list because it's a card that indicates when other cards are broken. Better Cannon Soldier does not an okay card make.
Metamorphosis--Probably broken. It's much too strong.
Soul Charge--Hell no. This card is way, way too strong.
Samsara Lotus can come back, Topologic got banned
